HUNDREDS of cannabis plants were discovered by police when they raided a house which had been rigged up as a drugs farm and left uninhabitable.
Durham Constabulary's Shildon neighbourhood police team attended a property on Auckland Terrace, Shildon, today where they found and seized a large quantity of cannabis plants.
There were 173 mature cannabis plants and 228 nursery plants inside the address.
One male was arrested at the scene and tonight remains in custody.
A Durham police spokesperson said: "The electricity in the property was bypassed and there was unsafe wiring throughout, this combined with the damaged caused by the set-up has left the house uninhabitable."
