A MAN who stabbed and slashed his brother is facing a lengthy prison sentence.

Nicholas Trueman admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Richard Trueman during a scuffle on January 31 when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court yesterday.

He had earlier denied the more serious charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, claiming his actions had been reckless rather than deliberate.

Trueman, of Barbara Mann Court, Hartlepool, appeared in court via a live video-link from Durham Prison, to enter his plea in front of Judge Peter Armstrong.

His case was adjourned until March 29 so a probation officer can compile a background report on the 57-year-old.

The victim says he was knifed in the face, chest and body, prosecutors told the court at a previous hearing.
