TWO men arrested in connection with a Darlington cash machine explosion have been released by police while investigations continue.
A 34-year-old man was arrested in Leeds on Wednesday afternoon while a 33-year-old man was arrested in Darlington on Thursday afternoon.
Both men are from the Bradford area and were held in custody in Darlington.
The incident took place at 1.40am on Wednesday morning at a cash machine outside the Heron Foods store on Cockerton Green.
It is believed the suspects filled the free-standing machine with gas, which was then deliberately ignited, before making off with a five-figure sum of cash.
Durham Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing and a number of lines of enquiry are being pursued.
It is understood a car was seen leaving the scene following the incident on Wednesday.
