A DISABLED woman was robbed at knifepoint in Darlington yesterday.

The woman was on her mobility scooter when she was approached by a man who threatened her with a knife before taking her purse.

The incident took place between 5pm to 5.30pm on Tuesday in Darlington on the footpath which runs from the McMullen Road and Haughton Road junction, through to the Red Hall estate, parallel to the River Skerne.

The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded top which had rips to the abdomen area and black or dark navy coloured tracksuit bottoms which had white paint on the front.

Acting Detective Inspector John Hoar, from Darlington CID, said: “This was a cowardly attack on a vulnerable and defenceless woman, who has been left badly shaken by the incident.

“I would urge anyone with any information to come forward.”
