A TEAM of more than 20 took to the streets in County Durham as part of an operation to clamp down on drivers flouting the law.
Operation Colada saw 17 special constables and one PCSO from Durham Police, three HMRC officers and one DVSA officer target vehicles in the Sedgefield, Trimdons and Fishburn area.
Motorists were stop-checked on Saturday (August 5) to ensure their vehicles were road-safe and legally driven.
Action was taken against those driving without a licence, without insurance, using a mobile phone, for not wearing a seatbelt and for having vehicle defects.
The operation was in response to concerns raised to the force from residents.
A spokesperson for Durham Special Constabulary said: "Many great results were achieved, to keep our communities safe and lawful. We thank all members of the public who supported us."
