AN armed robber targeted a betting shop and fled with cash on Monday evening.

Wielding a metal bar, the man stole money from a till at Ladbrokes on Oxbridge Lane in Stockton.

Nobody was injured during the incident, which took place at around 7.40pm on Monday, July 24.

The suspect is described as being around 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing black clothing with his face covered during the robbery.

Police say that the incident is not connected to another robbery that saw knife-wielding raiders wearing clown masks steal from the till at a Middlesbrough branch of Ladbrokes last Tuesday, July 18.

Anyone with information about either crime should contact Cleveland Police on non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Those calling in relation to Monday’s robbery should ask to speak to DC Jonathan Gowler from the Stockton Volume Crime Team.
