POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed in a Hartlepool shopping centre.

The victim, who is in his 30s, was in the open air section on the first floor of Middleton Grange shopping centre, near to Halifax bank at around 2pm on Tuesday, December 27, when he was attacked by a group of male and female teenagers, leaving him with two black eyes and cuts to his face. 

The suspects then fled after stealing cash.

Police would like to speak to a Good Samaritan who attempted to stop the teenagers from attacking the victim, but is also believed to have been injured, and have urged him to contact officers on 101.
