A PENSIONER has been killed in a hit-and-run incident on Teesside.

Police said the 84-year-old woman, who has not been named, died following the collision in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, shortly before 11am on Wednesday.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene, leaving the woman injured in the car park area of the Parkway Shopping Centre, opposite KFC.

The woman received treatment from paramedics, however she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the vehicle involved was believed to be a dark coloured saloon car and it may have made off in the direction of the Lingfield Farm Pub on Coulby Farm Way.

Acting Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth, from Cleveland Police, said: “We are dealing with a serious incident, as a result of which a woman has sadly died.

“I would strongly urge the driver of the vehicle that made off from the scene to come forward and speak to us.”
