A PENSIONER was found with facial injuries on a patch of land in Middlesbrough on Friday morning.

The 66-year-old year was taken to hospital and police said the investigation is still at an early stage. Forensics officers were on the scene in South Bank.

A statement from Cleveland Police said: “Police received a report of a man found with facial injuries at the junction of Normanby Road and Trunk Road at around 6.10am this morning, Friday 23rd September.

“Inquiries are at an early stage and officers are working to establish the circumstances around how the man came about his injuries.”

An area of land near St Peter’s School, and next to Cut Price Carpets, was cordoned off with police tape this morning.
