RESIDENTS are being urged to have their say on the future of policing across the Cleveland force area.

Police and Crime Commissioner Barry Coppinger is looking to deliver his strategic plan for the coming four years – 2016 to 2020 – with the assistance of members of the public.

Focussing on his May manifesto pledges, the Labour PCC for Cleveland is targeting five key objectives:

• Investing in our police

• A better deal for victims

• Tackling reoffending

• Working together to make Cleveland safer

• Securing the future of our communities

He said: “This plan forms my work programme for the coming four year period and will be co-ordinated with the work of a whole range of individuals and organisations who work to keep the Cleveland area safe.

£I hope you will find the document of interest – it is a ‘work in progress’ - and I am interested in hearing comments and suggestions as to how it can be further improved. Please let me have them by the beginning of September.”

The draft plan has been put together by the Commissioner and his office and sets out around 50 actions following on from the five key objectives.
