A 64-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and other sexual assaults on a teenage girl at a school during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Police said the man, who has not been named, was arrested at an address in North Yorkshire and questioned at a nearby police station on Friday, before being released on bail.
It remains unclear whether the man is employed at a school in the county.
A 65-year-old man from Shropshire was also arrested and interviewed by detectives near his home over the same allegations, which relate to incidents in West Sussex during the late 1980s and early 1990s, before being bailed.
The investigation is being carried out by child safeguarding detectives from Sussex Police.
Shrewsbury School has confirmed one of its staff was being questioned by police about the allegations and the man had been suspended from duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
