POLICE have issued an e-fit of an attempted robber who grabbed a woman from behind and demanded her mobile phone.

The 20-year-old woman was walking over a bridge over the A66 on Thornaby Road, Thornaby, at about 2.30am on Wednesday, January 27 when she was grabbed.

The victim didn't hand over the phone and her attacker ran off. She suffered minor bruising but did require medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 22 years old, 5ft 10 in tall, of skinny build, with light eyebrows and a pale complexion. Police have released an e-fit of the man who try to trace him.

It is believed the man was with two other males, wearing tracksuits, who were standing in the area at the time of the incident.

Police would like to speak to these men as they may be able to help with inquiries.
