THIEVES have robbed a charity shop.

They broke into the RSPCA shop in Beech Road, Framwellgate Moor, Durham City, overnight Tuesday into Wednesday and stole a safe containing £200 in cash.

The money represents two days’ taking for the shop.

PC Alastair Price, of Durham Police, appealed for anyone who witnessed the burglary or has information on the crime to come forward.

“This is a particularly despicable crime against a local charity raising money for a good cause,” he said.

Anyone who can help the police investigation is asked to call PC Price at Durham City police station on 101.
