Youth charged with knifepoint rape of woman in city centre park
A TEENAGER has been charged with raping a woman in a park in Newcastle city centre at the weekend.
A woman was threatened with a knife, punched and raped as she walked home through Exhibition Park at 3am on Sunday.
Officers from Northumbria Police have tonight charged a 17-year-old youth with rape.
He has been remanded in police custody and will appear before North Tyneside Magistrates Court in the morning.
