A GIRL fell onto the Metro lines during a disturbance involving a group of teenagers, police say.

Officers are appealing for information following the incident at Fawdon Metro station.

"At just after 12.05am, on Saturday, June 13, police received a report of a group of teenage boys and girls fighting at Fawdon Metro station, in Newcastle," said a spokesman for Northumbria Police.

"Officers attended the scene where a 16-year-old girl was found with a back injury after falling onto the Metro lines. She was taken to the RVI for treatment where she remains.

"Two 16-year-old boys received head and facial injuries after being sprayed with a substance believed to have been ammonia. They were also treated at the RVI and one boy has since returned.

"All three are not believed to have been seriously injured as a result of the incident."

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and has been bailed to attend a youth surgery.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are keen to speak to any witnesses.
