A MAN was threatened with a handgun after an intruder entered his house.
Police are appealing for information after the aggravated burglary in South Shields.
At 5.19pm on Wednesday, May 13, the man entered the address in Canterbury Street and threatened the occupant with what is believed to have been a hand gun before making off.
Nothing was stolen during the incident and the resident was not injured but left shaken.
The man is described as a white man, aged around 50-years-old, slim build and was wearing dark blue jeans with a brown jacket and dark woollen hat.
Detective Sergent David Wakefield said: "Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we're keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time or have information to contact us straight away.
"At this stage we do not believe this was a random attack and was directed at a specific individual, who no longer lives in the area.
"We recognise the local community may be concerned about this incident and we have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance."
Anyone with any information into the incidents is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 878 13/05/15 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
