A REWARD of up to £1,000 has been offered for information about a terrifying burglary - in which masked men tied up an elderly couple and stole cash and jewellery.

The raiders broke into the home of the couple on South Park Road in Harrogate between 6.15pm and 7pm on Tuesday, January 20.

Wearing masks and hoods covering their faces stole around £200 in cash and some jewellery.

Once the men left, the victims managed to untie themselves and contacted their daughter, who rang police.

The couple suffered minor injuries to their hands and wrists.

Crimestoppers are now offering a reward of up to £1,000 for any information which leads to somebody being arrested and charged over the burglary.

Detectives are continuing their enquiries into the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Bill Burns, of Harrogate police, said: “This was clearly a very frightening experience for the elderly victims and they have been left extremely shaken.

“It is important that we trace the people responsible for the incident and I am urging anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.”
