A MAN who separately sexually abused two young children over three decades has been jailed for 12 years.

Alan Gregory Norster was described by Judge Les Spittle as a “wicked man” who had caused incalculable damage.

The judge said he considered sending the 56 year-old to prison for life, but was unable to do so as he was bound by the principles of law.

Norster, who committed his crimes on Teesside, admitted ten counts of indecent assault, three of rape and one attempted rape on the eve of his trial earlier this year, although some were specimen charges.

He was convicted of an indecent assault in the early 1990s against another young child and given a probation order, although Judge Spittle said this failed to stop him.

Prosecuting at Teesside Crown Court, Christine Egerton, described how one of the victims was lured to an empty house and then raped on the floor.

The victim described feelings of shame, self-loathing and disgust.

Brian Mark, mitigating said Norster, of Christon West View, North Shields, Tyneside, had become a “twisted, warped” individual as a result of the treatment he himself had suffered when he was young.

He said: “He has shown almost complete remorse and understands it has to be a lengthy custodial sentence.”

The two victims were in court for the sentence and after jailing Norster for 12 years, the judge told them: “I do hope there is some degree of closure now for you and you can get on with your lives.”

Norster will be subject to a sexual offences prevention order and will have to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
