Last night police said trhey were dealing with an incident in Mill Terrace, Shiney Row, following a call of concern for a man living inside a house in the street.
Road diversions were put in place and homes were evacuated while officers spoke to the man. British Gas were also assisting.
Residents who were evacuated from their homes were allowed to return yesterday evening.
