A MAN has lost his fight for life a week after suffering a violent assault, police have confirmed.
The 32-year-old, named locally as Mark Dixon, suffered serious head injuries following an assault in Hartlepool, died last night (Saturday 11th October 2014) in hospital.
The incident happened just after 4am on Sunday, October 5 on Victoria Road in Hartlepool.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place to establish the cause of death.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
