OFFICERS from North Yorkshire Police will provide security at the first NATO summit in the UK since 1990.
Up to 60 world leaders, including David Cameron, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande, will visit Newport, Wales in September.
The leaders will address issues which threaten the national security of countries within NATO, including the situation in Ukraine, terrorism and cyber attacks.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said a number of its officers, yet to be decided, would be among a team from forces around the country providing security.
The force will also be send a contigent of its specialist officers to Glasgow later this month to provide support at the Commonwealth Games.
