PLANS for a multi-million pound leisure centre in Ingleby Barwick have taken a step forward, with new artist’s impressions of the complex.

People living in and around are being asked for their views about the centre, which will include a library and customer service point for the town.

A special drop-in session is being held on Thursday, September 1 so residents can tell Stockton council what they think about the plan.

Among facilities being considered for the building are a main and learner swimming pool, a gym, health and fitness suite, exercise studio, soft play, a community library and a customer service point.

The drop-in session is in Ingleby Barwick Library on Blair Avenue between 4pm and 7.30pm.

Anyone who is unable to attend the drop-in session can find out more and share their views by emailing EGDS@stockton.gov.uk

Stockton Borough Council’s cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, Cllr Norma Wilburn, said: “Over the last few months we have been working with All Saints CE Academy, the Diocese of York and the architects to develop some early designs.”

Subject to planning approval it is expected that work would start on site next year with the building opening to the public in 2018.

The facility will be operated by Tees Active Leisure.
