IMPROVEMENT works to the reception area at Hartlepool Civic Centre are due to begin this weekend.

The improvements will include the installation of a number of new self-service computers that will provide residents with free access to a range of on-line services.

The IT facilities will occupy the previous information desk space which will be replaced by a new reception area to the right of the main doors.

A screened area is also to be created for people wishing to access services such as welfare support and housing advice. This will offer customers a degree of privacy in more comfortable surroundings.

Julie Howard, the council’s customer and business manager, said: “To try to minimise disruption, we intend to carry out construction work across four consecutive weekends, starting on Saturday.FEB20

“The reception area will remain open on week days and people will be able to carry out their business with the authority as normal.”

The new re-modelled reception area is scheduled to open on Monday, March 14.
