RECYCLING booklets are being delivered to households across Hambleton this week.

To mark national Recycle Week the district council is reissuing its updated guide to recycling to the 43,000 homes.

It is full of information, including what can and cannot be recycled at the kerbside.

Since the introduction of a new kerbside recycling service 18 months ago Hambleton residents have managed to collect 11,000 tonnes of recyclable material – but officers are emphasising there is still more that can be recycled.

“The benefits of recycling are endless – and we already have a fantastic take up from residents,” said Councillor Stephen Watson, portfolio holder for waste.

“We hope this booklet will help us boost our recycling figures even further.”

In the UK, recent research shows almost 90 per cent of packaging is recycled from kitchens, while just over half of items are recycled from bathrooms.
