A HOMELESS dog came to the rescue of an injured walker who suffered a head injury after falling nearly 200ft on a mountain.
Dogs Trust Darlington's one-year-old Collie, Loki, was being walked by Chrissie Davies and Craig Loader on Helvellyn, in the Lake District, Cumbria.
Miss Davies, who works at the rehoming centre, in Sadberge, near Darlington, said: "Thankfully we had supplies, blankets and lots of coffee to keep the lady warm and Craig is an ambulance technician so was able to provide some additional support as well, while we waited on Keswick Mountain Rescue who managed to stretcher the lady to a waiting ambulance at the bottom of the mountain.
“We had been out for the day with Loki, in the hopes of getting some nice pictures of him for his Dogs Trust rehoming profile online and the lady had been out walking with her own dog. Loki was the one who alerted us to the situation as he bounded up and quickly became friends with the dog and we realised something was wrong."
Miss Davies hopes the walker calls Dogs Trust Darlington to find out how she is recovering.
