THE Big Spring Clean tackling litter and waste dumped across Darlington will continue with seven more events to tidy up the town.

Clean ups have been taking place across the region, with numerous bags of litter collected, including traffic cones, tyres, vacuum cleaners, car parts and a 15kg bag of decaying meat.

Residents are invited to join upcoming litter picks at Drinkfield marsh, Brinkburn, Baydale beck, Firthmoor, Skerne Bridge, West Pak and Broken Scar.

Spring cleans can be made up of individuals, community groups, organisations or schools wishing to take part.

The next event will begin at 1pm, on Saturday, March 2, at Drinkfield marsh, with those taking invited to meet at the stone wall in the centre of the reserve.

A spring clean of the Brinkburn area will begin on Hartington Way at 10am on Tuesday, March 27.

Five Big Spring Clean events will be held in April, beginning with a tidy up of Baydale beck on Tuesday, April 3, at 10am, and those taking part should meet at Edgecombe Drive and Staindrop Road.

Firthmoor's event will start at 1pm on Wednesday, April 4, meeting at the Firthmoor Community Centre.

The Skerne Bridge, known as the £5 note bridge, will be cleaned on Thursday, April 5, from 10am, meeting at the bottom of Henry Street.

The main entrance to West Park off West Auckland Road at 10am on Tuesday, April 10, will begin the clean of the area before a final event on Friday, April 13, at Broken Scar, at 10am in the play area near the top car park.
