THE mayor of Darlington has promised an evening full of entertainment and fine dining in the name of raising money for charity.

The event will begin at 6.45pm at Central Hall Darlington, on Friday, 17 October, and will have a ‘Rural Darlington’ theme; based on the Mayor’s love of the countryside and nature.

As well as traditional evening wear, ladies who have wedding dresses are invited to wear them to the ball.

The Mayor, Councillor Gerald Lee, who is hosting the event, said: “The Mayor’s ball has a long standing reputation for providing high-quality entertainment as well as raising lots of money for well-deserved charities.”

Councillor Lee added: “I am privileged to host it this year. I hope people will join come along and join me for a fun night of celebration.”

This year the Mayor’s nominated charities will be The Butterwick Hospice and the Phoenix Recovery Centre, in Catterick, with money raised on the evening being divided between them.

As well as a luxurious three-course meal, there will be a wide range of local entertainment, with music from Nightshift, Phil Crumbie, and others, as well as a disco, a magic show, Casino tables and Ceilidh dancing.

Tickets are £50. For more information and to book tickets contact the Dolphin Centre on 01325-388410.
