"I HAVE applied for an apprenticeship for welding at Mechtool, in Darlington, and for another apprenticeship for toolmaking in Aycliffe.
"I have already got a place at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College and Darlington College.
"I have a good attendance record and I am very punctual. At my school (Longfield Academy of Sport, in Darlington) I had a number of different roles, including being a prefect and being one of the school vice-captains of sport.
"I was also chosen to act as a mentor for a younger pupil who was having difficulty settling in. I did my best to help him."
