11 GCSEs, including English, maths and science, with one A grade, four B grades and seven C grades. Luke started A levels at sixth form college, but quickly realised he wanted to pursue a more hands-on career. He is now working towards an NVQ in electrical mechanical engineering at South-West Durham Training in Newton Aycliffe.

“I am very keen to get a job. I need an apprenticeship to fully finish my qualification.
“I went to college but it just wasn’t for me. My granddad and my uncle both work in electrical engineering and I really liked the sound of it.
“I enjoy hands-on work and I have learned a lot since being here. I have got good communication skills, I am good at working in a team and at motivating people. I am always willing to try out new things and I enjoy learning new skills.
“I am reliable, have very good time-keeping skills and I am hard working. “I am very keen to get work.”
