Don't Stop Dementia Drugs
THE Northern Echo has launched a campaign to ensure that thousands of Alzheimer's sufferers are not denied vital drugs which can slow down the effects of this terrible disease.
A decision by NHS drugs watchdog the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) means that from November 22, 2006, doctors will no longer be able to prescribe the drugs to newlydiagnosed patients in the early and late stages of Alzheimer's.
