THE Olympic flame was handed, in a choreographed ceremony, from Greece to Britain this week.
The pomp was a world away from the economic misery on Greece’s streets.
The flame will be carried round Britain in a farcical relay backdropped by an Adidas logo.
Adidas make very profitable sports equipment, most of it by poor workers in the Far East who are never likely to take part in such sports.
The flame will finally arrive at the London stadium, which is clad in a material made by the Dow Chemical Company which struggled first to be associated with the games and then to be allowed to display its logo prominently all around the stadium.
Dow is the parent company of Union Carbide which killed thousands as aresult of a chemical leak in India in 1984.
The site of the disaster, Bhopal, is still contaminated almost 30 years later.
Lots of money always wins out in any struggle.
The people who make the decisions, Lords and politicians, are easily swayed by cash, and readily accept twisted arguments that others find deeply humiliating.
The London Olympic logo can be interpreted in several ways, one being the humiliation of those no longer included in the Olympic spirit by those that are.
