IT has often been said by those entirely dependent on public participation, bankers and councils in particular that if you’re only willing to pay peanuts, you’ll only get monkeys in return.

Here in Durham County Council we have at least 20 executives in receipt of £100,000 plus per annum as salary, whilst they themselves stress the need for economy of expenditure by reform of public amenities.

A salary of £100,000 is certainly not peanuts, yet their base stupidity in ignoring public discontent in regard to the wheelie bin debacle tells us that we do have overpaid monkeys at County Hall. Come on county councillors, what did we elect you for?

General public discontent suggests questions must be asked and answered.
