POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a series of burglaries and are encouraging people to be more security conscious.
Six garages at the rear of Lillie Terrace and St Albans Terrace, in Trimdon Grange, were broken into overnight on Wednesday May 2.
Padlocks on the garages had been cut with bolt croppers or a similar tool and a power washer was stolen from one of them.
Garage owners are now being urged to ensure buildings are secure and to contact police if they need crime prevention advice.
Anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the garages should contact Durham police on 101.
