YOUNGSTERS are helping to tackle eyesore graffiti blighting a village as they work to improve the appearance of their village.
Pupils from Fishburn Primary School, near to Ferryhill, painted over graffiti on a wall near a memorial seat.
The work was part of an initiative organised by Durham County Council which acted as graffiti has worsened in the area in recent years.
The children attended a session run by the council’s civic pride team which included parts on graffiti and anti-social behaviour.
Clare Hubbard, senior civic pride officer at the council, said: "The graffiti had become a real eyesore.
"Now it’s looking much more attractive in the village thanks to the hard work of local school children.
"The pupils have made a huge difference to their local community by cleaning up this part of the village."
