TWO 18-MONTH-OLD children have been seriously injured after a motorbike crashed into their pushchair in Sunderland this morning.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said officers received a report that a motorbike had crashed into a woman with a pushchair at Camberwell Way, in Sunderland, at 9.50am.
The spokesman said: "Police and the ambulance service attended and two children, a boy and a girl both aged 18 months, were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.
"Both children are in a serious condition. The woman, aged 26, is not seriously injured."
The rider of the bike, a man aged 30, was also taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be serious at this time.
Police are carrying out inquiries to establish exactly what has happened and the road is closed while investigation takes place.
The spokesman added: "Officers are also informing next of kin and providing support to family members."
