Pedestrian hit by car on Redheugh Bridge, Gateshead

A PEDESTRIAN has been injured after being hit by a car on the Redheugh Bridge in Gateshead.
A police spokesman said officers were dealing with the accident which was reported just after 6pm police.
She said: “Officers attended the scene along with the ambulance service.
“A man has been taken to hospital for treatment.
“The northbound carriageway of Askew Road has been closed to allow for an investigation of the scene. Motorists have been asked to find an alternative route where possible.” The extent of the man's injuries are not know.
