A MAN was due in court today after police seized drugs with an estimated street value of £4m.
Brian Harrison, 28, of Mossgate Road, Liverpool, was arrested yesterday and has been charged with three counts of conspiracy to supply class A, B and C drugs. He was due before Newcastle Magistrates Court at some point today.
"Northumbria officers, working with colleagues from Merseyside Police, yesterday searched a house in Liverpool where they seized a large quantity of drugs and two industrial size presses," a spokesman for Northumbria Police said. "The value of the drugs, believed to be heroin, cocaine and Benzylpiperazine (BZP), has a total street value of around £4m.
"Yesterday's arrest was the latest phase of an ongoing operation which last month saw officers seize around one kilo of cocaine and arrest seven men in the Kibblesworth area of Gateshead.
"Following that police charged five men with conspiracy to supply class A drugs. Two others were bailed pending further enquiries."
