ARMED police used a taser to apprehend a man armed with a machete, a snooker cue and a knuckle duster after he threatened people at a Tesco superstore.
Police were called to the Tesco Extra store at Dragonville, Durham, in the early hours of this morning.
"The call came just after 1.10am. Officers helped evacuate 50 members of the public, including staff and shoppers," a spokesman for Durham Police said. "No one was injured. Just after 1.20am, a 30-year-old man was arrested and is in custody at Durham City police station.
"A taser was used to effect the arrest. A machete, a pool cue and knuckle duster were recovered."
