Friarage protest meeting forced to swap venues to cope with demand

The Friarage The Friarage

CONTROVERSY over a planned hospital downgrade has reached such a level that a planned public meeting tonight has had to switch venues.

Originally the meeting about the future of children’s and maternity services at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton was to have been held in the local town hall.

However, the capacity of the hall is just 180 - and far more people than that are expected to attend So now the venue has been hastily re-arranged - and the meeting will now be held in the nearby Golden Lion, with a capacity of 400.

The Northern Echo will be at tonight's meeting. See tomorrow's newspaper for all the reaction
