FIVE teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 19-year-old man was fatally attacked on Christmas Eve.
Rikki Todd, from Camperdown in North Tyneside, was assaulted outside the Halfway House pub in Station Road, Camperdown, at 1.24am on December 24.
He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary where he died three days later.
Northumbria Police said a 15-year-old boy, two 17-year olds and two 18-year-old men had been arrested and were currently helping with inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Ged Noble, the officer leading the murder investigation, said: Police are still appealing for witnesses and for anyone with information about this incident to contact police.
Wed ask anyone who has not yet come forward, who was in the area at the relevant time on Christmas Eve, to ring police straightaway.
Also, anyone who has information about this incident to speak to officers.
The local Killingworth Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work closely with the local community to provide reassurance.
