A CAR parked near to its owner’s home has been set alight in what police said was an apparent random act of vandalism.
The blue Volkswagen Cabriolet was parked on the street in Cleveland Terrace, Darlington, on Monday. At around 11pm somebody set the roof on fire.
Police said a substantial amount of damage was caused and it was not yet known whether the car would be written off.
He added: “No other vehicles in the street were targeted that night as far as we know, it appears at this stage to have been a random act of vandalism.”
