A POLICE search was under way last night for a 27-year-old Polish mother-of-one who has disappeared from her home on a popular North-East dairy farm.

Danuta Domagalska was last seen more than a week ago. Last night, police said they wanted to speak to her brother, Piotr Lawniczak, who went missing shortly after Mrs Domagalska’s disappearance.

Mrs Domagalska has worked for three years at New Moor Farm, at Walworth Gate, outside Darlington.

The farm is home to the popular Archer’s Ice Cream Parlour.

She lived in a cottage on the farm with her husband, Marcin, and her 31-year-old brother, who also worked on the farm.

She has a five-year-old son, who lives with his grandmother in Poland. The owners of the farm, John and Susan Archer, yesterday described her as a popular, hardworking and cheerful member of staff.

When Mrs Domagalska failed to turn up for work for several days, they went to the cottage to investigate.

Her husband and brother were still in the cottage, but she was not there.

Her BMW car was still parked outside and did not appear to have moved in several days.

The Archers were unhappy with the explanation given for her disappearance and rang the police. An incident room has now been set up at Bishop Auckland Police Station and police have said they are concerned for her welfare.

A team of detectives and specialist staff, led by Detective Superintendent Adrian Green, has been set up.

Although officers have spoken to Mr Domagalska, they are keen to talk to Mr Lawniczak, whose whereabouts are unknown.

He is 6ft 2in and slim, with short, dark hair. When last seen he was wearing a navy blue jacket with a grey hooded top and grey jeans.

Det Supt Green said: “I am extremely concerned for Danuta’s welfare, as are her friends and family. We are continuing to talk to her husband, but I am also very keen to speak to her brother, Piotr.

“If anyone has any information on where he might be, or where Danuta has gone, I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.”

Yesterday, crime scene investigators and a specialist search team were at the farm searching for clues.

The ice cream parlour was closed with an officer guarding the entrance to the farm.

Four police vans and two crime scene vans were at the farm last night and about 20 officers were searching the surrounding area.

Forensics officers have been searching the farm where the award-winning ice cream is made and also the nearby cottage where Mrs Domagalska lived with her husband and brother.

A Marine Unit police van arrived at the farm during the day.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 0345-6060-365 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555- 111.
