HOUSEHOLDERS on a environmentally-friendly estate can save money and energy with free electrical devices.

Residents living in Easterside in Middlesbrough can now get free Owl Energy Monitors worth £50 and EON PC Powerdowns valued at £20.

The powerdown reduces electricity usage by remotely and safely taking all computers and peripherals off standby.

The Owl monitor provides real-time costings of electricity usage to help manage electricity bills more effectively.

This energy-saving offer is funded through the Eco-Easterside Low Carbon Community Challenge Scheme.

The £400,000 Eco Easterside project is one of only 22 communities selected across the UK to benefit from the Department of Energy and Climate Change's Low Carbon Communities Challenge fund grant.

The equipment is also available to anyone receiving benefits living in the Middlesbrough Council area.
