I APPLAUD Gordon Strachan’s integrity in resigning when he could, I assume, have done nothing and continued to draw a substantial salary for three more years or until he was sacked whereupon compensation would have been due. However, can anyone explain why tearing up his contract and waiving compensation is seen as praiseworthy when, in the real, i.e. non-football, world, on resigning he would be expected to serve a contractual notice period, and an employee who resigns would be owed no compensation at all?
