Shoes and eggs thrown at Blair as he attends book signing

SHOES and eggs were pelted at Tony Blair today as he attended his first book signing in the Irish Republic.

The missiles, which were thrown by anti-war protesters, did not hit the former prime minister as he arrived at a bookshop in Dublin.

Activists clashed with Gardai as they tried to push down a security barrier outside the Eason store on O'Connell Street.

Shops in the area also closed, with Pennys department store pulling down its shutters as scuffles broke out.

It is the first book signing since the former Sedgefield MP's memoirs were released this week.

The book, A Journey, tells of his life in politics and has become one of the fastest selling autobiographies on record.

Mr Blair, who gave his first live television interview to Irish state broadcaster RTE last night, was expected to spend about an hour at the store.

Mr Blair said last night the Northern Ireland peace process was one of the few moments in politics that he felt really proud.

Now the Middle East peace envoy, he described watching former Northern Ireland First Minister Ian Paisley and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness sitting together publicly for the first time.

Do you think this despicable little man has any idea how much he's hated? And he feels proud of the Northern Ireland peace process, does he? I don't think pride is what I'd feel having let most of the IRA terrorists out of prison and put the likes of adams and mcguinness into high ranking government slots. Repulsive creature.

He is a lying, cheating, immoral, dishonest self serving failed politician with the blood of a lot of people on his hands, pretty much like most left wing socialists have over the years.

Agree with most of the above except Blair is about as far left wing as Maggie Thatcher.

I hope if he is doing a tour of book signings in the UK he pays for his own security, after all it's his own fault that he is the most hated politician in living memory.

On a similar subject I hope that any security costs associated with the visit of the Pope are back charged to the Roman Catholic Church too.

i hear loads of lefties and labourites who feel betrayed by Blairs broken promises wanted to go to Dublin and throw eggs at him, But the benefits agency would not pay for the flights or eggs.

My mum used to tell me there was some good in everyone, But she was wrong, there is no good in Blair at all.

"Super" Steve, why do you (and others) have so much hatred for Blair? Yes, he made mistakes, as we all do (although from your posts I guess you must NEVER have made a mistake in your life?) If you actually read the press reports and watched the news bullitins, you would actually see that the MAJORITY of people at the book signing were there in support of Blair and what he had helped do in Northern Ireland. Yes, there were a MINORITY of people there who seemed to be permanently foaming at the mouth (like yourself), but as various media sources have reported, they were in a minority.

The good and admiration in me is reserved for decent people, like Robin Cook and Mo Molam true representatives of the workers in the Labour movement.
Blair is rotten to the core, and the cancer of Blair, Prescott, Reid etc has spread right through the Labour party.

There is plenty of good in the world, but its not found in the current labour party or associated with what passes for socialism today.

Nick Scotts summary above sums Blair and his parasites perfectly.

With the hard, solid evidence you have, there should be no problem securing a private prosecution against this reprehensible individual. Murder, cheating, being a cancer, being a parasite...the list goes on.
Err, you DO have evidence, don't you? Otherwise you're a sad ranter who only knows what he reads in the Mail. LOLLL!!!!
