New appeal for swim death witnesses

POLICE investigating the death of an eight-year-old boy who died during a family swimming session have made a new appeal for anyone who was in the pool at the time to come forward.

Kaimen Ward, from Northallerton, North Yorkshire, died after getting into difficulties at Hambleton Leisure Centre on August 25.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police are working with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances that led to Kaimen's death.

Detective Inspector Keith Ruff, of Northallerton CID, said: "There are still some people who were in the pool who haven't contacted us. Even if people did not witness Kaimen's tragic death, I would still like to speak with them so that I can establish a clear picture of the afternoon's events."

Anyone who was in the swimming pool after 2pm and has not yet contacted the police is asked to contact Northallerton CID on 0845-60-60-247 as a matter of urgency.

Kaimen's funeral will take place in All Saint's Parish Church, in Northallerton, on Monday, at 11am.
