POLICE in County Durham have this morning charged a mother with murdering her two-year-old son.
Melanie Ruddell, 39, is due to appear before Peterlee Magistrates' Court this morning.
Mrs Ruddell was arrested after walking into Peterlee Police Station carrying the lifeless body of her son, Christy on August 9.
A post mortem investigation later revealed he had been strangled, and had suffered a stab wound.
Mrs Ruddell, of Dean View, Castle Eden, was charged with murder this morning after police were given medical clearance to speak to her.
