MOTORCYCLING history took to the road yesterday with a colourful cavalcade of two-wheeled classics.
More than 70 historic bikes gathered at the Yorkshire Air Museum, near York, and not one was less than 80 years old, while several dated back more than a century.
The occasion was the annual Golden Era Run, organised by the North-Eastern section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club specifically for pre-1930 bikes.
The oldest machine was a 1903 Quadrant that had been restored to pristine condition and other almost forgotten marques included York, P&M, Montgomery, Torpedo and Scott.
