ARTWORK by a well known painter drawing on fairy tales for inspiration has gone on show in a bid to bring it to more people.

Rural Arts, in Thirsk, is showing work by David Hockney based on the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm.

The works belong to The Goldmark Gallery, in Lincolnshire, which is taking it out to many small venues in the county.

Mark Goldmark, of the gallery, said: "We’re a family run art gallery and we have around 40,000 pieces of art.

"Normally people have to travel a long way to find art like this and a lot of people feel intimidated going into art galleries.

"We thought it would be a nice idea to bring the art out to small venues in Yorkshire."

The pieces on show at Rural Arts are all for sale with details at the exhibition.

The exhibition began on April 29 and it runs through until May 1, and it runs between 11am and 6pm with free entry.
