HUNDREDS of young musicians from across County Durham performed in front of a sell-out audience at one of the world’s best venues.
The musical extravaganza at The Sage, Gateshead, featured ensembles from Durham Music Service, illustrating the wealth of musical talent in the county.
Durham County Wind Band, Durham County Youth Choir and Durham County Big Band were among the groups taking part in the Durham Music Showcase.
Durham County Council’s manager for music education, Adrian Biddulph, said: “People were absolutely buzzing – students, staff and parents.
“More than 600 musicians performed throughout the day.
“There were numerous ensembles playing in the concourse and rehearsals started at 10.30am for the showcase performance in Hall One.
“It was a total success.”
